Carol Bader - President Del Mar Hat Company

Del Mar hat has been in business 16 years (15 online this Nov.) and started selling and designing hats at the "A" circuit hunter jumper shows throughout California and events surrounding  Opening Day at the Del Mar race track.  I recall a good friend who sold beautiful equine jewelry re-telling the accounts of people standing in line to pay for their Del Mar Hat Co. hats and not being able to see me in my booth.  "It was a nice mix of barn hats, sun visors, designer sun hats, and of course gorgeous custom hats for Grand Prix's and Racing events.". I actually designed the first riding helmet visor and had International Showjumper Francie Steinwedell-Carvin "test" my prototypes. I spent several years building my business in the equine world at national events and launched my website very early and built a loyal online following from that. "Horses have always been the thread of the hat designing for me, the thing that keeps me so inspired, and the best place for me to be". "Having designed in many mediums, the hats/headpieces were such a natural fit for me with the horses."This year has been very special as I landed a hat in the Winner's Circle at the KY Derby, designed the hat for the CEO of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, who lead the Kentucky Oaks ceremony in her custom "Pink Ribbon" hat and made the hat "Zenhotta" for Zenyatta's 12th undefeated race and worn by TVG host and reporter Christina Olivares. I was contacted by "The Hills" star Audrina Patridge to custom design a hat for her for Opening Day at Del Mar for a special guest appearance. I think all of this shows how my passion for design and horses make this a great career for me and and a fabulous way to connect with other female horse lover.
