MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Amy Ganci, Partner - Ganci and Skinner, LLP
Having grown up in Lexington, Kentucky, horses were just naturally in Amy’s blood.  Amy grew up showing hunters until she left for college and was unable to pick up the reins again until after completing law school.  Amy gave up her passion for over ten years to complete her education and start a law practice, but in the early 1990s jumped back in to horses, showing hunters and jumpers in her new home – Texas.
In 2005, Amy discovered dressage and has become an avid enthusiast and competitor.  Amy has her Bronze Medal from the United States Dressage Federation, was a Dover National Merit Award winner, and has won numerous Regional and local awards.  Amy loves the musical freestyle classes, and this year will be dancing with her horse, Bon Wilbo, to the big swing band sound of Anita O’Day and “Thanks for the Boogie Ride!”  Amy hopes to pursue the USDF “L” program and become a United States Equestrian Federation (“USEF”) - licensed technical delegate.
Over the past 20 years, Amy has combined her equestrian passion with an active law practice, representing trainers, owners and breeders in a wide variety of transactions and litigation.  The majority of Amy’s current equine cases involve sale disputes over show and breeding horses.   Whether the issue is suitability, soundness, or some other alleged defect, Amy represents her clients with zeal, and with an experience that “non-horsey” counsel simply cannot provide.  Amy also represents clients in complaints before various administrative bodies, including the USEF, American Quarter Horse Association, and Federation Equestre Internationale, primarily involving those organizations rules and drug policies.  Amy also mediates disputes involving horse matters, and hopes that pre-lawsuit dispute resolution will evolve and grow in coming years to control the time, expense, and uncertainty of traditional litigation.  Amy devotes a great deal of time to educating horse industry professionals about the legal aspects of their business You can find AMy under Attorneys.
