Carolyn Kooken- President, Winnie's Organic Animal Products

At the age of six, Carolyn began riding and from the very first moment she grabbed a mane, she has had a passion for horses (and  dogs!).  In junior high school she cared for a camp horse and became determined to get her own steed; her parents gave in and bought Carolyn her very first horse. During high school she became involved in endurance riding, proudly conquering 50 and 100 mile rides.  A  wonderful 3/4 Arabian mare carried Carolyn on this journey,displaying remarkable heart and desire. Along the way the mare was  plagued by an old hobble scar and was finally retired. After college Carolyn and her father, John Kooken, formed a business to raise and show Warmblood show jumpers while Carolyn pursued a career at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. After 10 dedicated years she left JPL and moved back to her true passion of horses and dogs.  Carolyn and John once again combined their interests and business acumen and pursued a new venture,Winnies Organic Animal Products.  Their goal was to provide high quality products for horses and dogs made from only the best human grade certified organic ingredients.  They worked passionately together on their show jumper and Winnies businesses until May 2007 when John tragically succumbed to a very aggressive malignant brain tumor. As a legacy to her father, Carolyn continues to work intensely on growing Winnies Organic Animal Products.  She actively supports equine charities with donations, and is currently working with the Humane Society of the United States to help spread their message of the need for foster homes for so many horses — especially in these economic times.  She is offering free samples to all WHIA members.
