Suzy Barnett - Arena One and Ranch One
Suzy Barnett is the ranch manager of Arena One & Ranch One in Batesville, MS. She has been the ranch manager for the past 8 years and handles all the breeding and show enquiries, as well as overseeing the ranch operations. Ranch One is home of Arena One, the South's most exciting new equine facility –National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) sanctioned shows are held in Arena One an average of fifty days per year. Suzy is a certified show secretary for NCHA. She & her staff enjoy hosting the cutting shows and welcome beginners and pros alike to experience the excitement of the cutting horse. Other shows are being added as the facility grows. 2010 will be the third year Arena One welcomes the NW Mississippi District 4-H Horse Show with contestants competing in events ranging from roping and goat tying to hunter under saddle. Cowboy Mounted Shooting shows were added events at Arena One in 2009 and are returning in 2010. Plans call for ropings, barrel races, pennings, and sortings to be scheduled in fall 2010 with the completion of 400 additional stalls & 100 RV hookups. Ranch One is also working to become a certified center for the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA). A therapeutic riding program providing for Autistic children is scheduled to begin in April 2010. Having grown up around horses and cattle, Suzy has always had a love of horsemanship and showed for 30+ years as an all round competitor in western and english classes at local & AQHA shows. Her proudest accomplishments have been raising six daughters, who kept her busy while they showed their horses. She was a volunteer 4H leader for over 15 years and secretary/treasurer for county and district livestock associations. When people comment on the many varied tasks Suzy juggles at Ranch One, her response is, “Being a horse show mom for six girls prepared me for anything this place can throw at me!”Find her under expos/shows
