Norma Vela - Owner Today's Horse Horse Trader Magazine

Vela fell in love with horses watching her best friend's riding lessons at age ten, but didn't realize it until 29 years later when she bought her own horse-- a Morgan pony. As a passionate new rider in mid-life, she jumped in with both feet competing as an amateur in the hunter/jumper world for over 10 years.  She served several years on the Tri-Valley Horse Show Association’s Board as Secretary, helping to rewrite & clarify their Bylaws and class specs. As her love of the sport grew, she also continued her busy career in show business writing, producing and directing for hit shows like: “Roseanne,” “Designing Women,” “St. Elsewhere” and many more.  Beginning in 2006, Vela worked with Parelli Natural Horsemanship to promote their Tour Stops and Celebrations, generated play-by-play Twitter feeds from the events and is a regular writer for their Savvy Times magazine.  She also writes the blog HeartandDesire.com.  In July 2009, the opportunity to purchase Today’s Horse Trader Magazine presented itself and Vela jumped again. She sees helming the publication as the best possible combination of her skills, experience, passion and interests. " I love the creative world and now work with great graphic artists, photographers and other writers.  I’m always excited to learn and this venture has a new lesson every day.
