So the good news is that WHIN is back online. If you’re wondering what happened or what the plans are for the future, here’s a quick overview.
If you’ve never visited the site before, then a very warm welcome. Those of you who are familiar with the site will know that it was created in around 2009 by the excellent Catherine Masters. It attracted hundreds of members and was hugely popular. The mission of the site was described as follows:
The Women’s Horse Industry Network is a business networking organization which helps its members connect with one another for social, educational and business. Our mission is to help our members gather the information they need to become more successful in their equine businesses and to promote the advancement of women in the equine industry.
Unfortunately a couple of years ago, the site went offline. As members at the time, we aren’t entirely sure what the reason was. But having built up a following and doing a great job for women in the industry, it seemed a shame to let all this go to waste.
Therefore a small team of former members (Joanne, Emma and Jane) have now undertaken a project to restore the site to its former glory, and take over management of it in the future. We are doing this without Catherine as we don’t know how to contact her, but we hope and expect she would approve.
Our first job is to recreate the members directory. This is quite a large undertaking, as we are having to check all the old members details to confirm they are still valid. This will take time, but we are working on it.
At the same time we will be publishing interesting and relevant news items regarding women in horse racing and equestrianism.
We also welcome new members. There is no longer going to be any membership fee. If you would like to add details of yourself and your business to the directory, then you can do so for free. All we ask is that you add a link or logo on your own website to help us spread the word about WHIN.
If you’re interested in getting listed, please feel free to contact us. If your story is interesting, we’d also be hapy to feature more members in a Getting To Know You Article, so please ask if you’d like to be considered.
Thanks for your patronage, enjoy v2.0 of the site!
